Placename
Gaelic name: Pairc Chrosby
Name in Original Source: Pairc Chrosby
English meaning: Crosby's park
Placename feature: Field
Notes: "This name was recorded by the Scottish Place Names Survey in May 1971 (PN1971.016B). It is marked as being the field stretching away to the left towards the sea, if one were looking out from Applecross House. It formerly had more trees in it, as evidenced by the topography indicated on the old Ordnance Survey maps. This name also fits in with the tradition of the area having been home to the coachman to the Middleton family, John Crosby, in the 1870s.

A copy of the 1874 Applecross Estate Rental, one of the few which survived a series of bonfires (culminating in the destruction of the Estate's records by the manager in the mid-1980s) shows that the Minister of Clachan Church, Reverend Roderick Nicolson, paid £1 for what is listed as ""Crosby's piece"". It may relate to this place more than Pìos Chrosby."
