Placename

Gaelic name: Sganna Buidhe

Name in Original Source: Sganna Buidhe

English meaning: Yellow block

Placename feature: Rock

Notes: A very noticeable feature just below the old ferry pier in Loch Toghsgaig, this is a large block or rock which generally sits clear of the water, except for exceptionally high tides. It is conspicuous because of its size, shape and colouring (topped with yellow lichen), standing out from the surrounding shoreline. Name provided to the Scottish Place Name Survey in May 1971 by Roderick Gillanders
