Placename
Gaelic name: Sgeir Mhaol/Sgeir a' Mhaoil
Name in Original Source: Sgeir Mhaol
English meaning: Bald/bare skerry
Placename feature: Skerry
Notes: Sgeir Mhaol - the bald/bare skerry, because it clears the water at low tide. Or possibly Sgeir a' Mhaoil, Skerry of the monk? Tradition relates the drowning of Failbhe MacGuaire, Abbot of Applecross in 801AD. Maybe named after this incident?

Admiralty Chart of 1851 names this Bo-akin (more probably Bo' Èiginn (q.v.))
