Notes: In local dialect his is pronounced 'porsht uh vaa-tee', but the local word for a small rowing boat would normally be eathar, so this name needs closer inspection. Words ending in (a)ibh in Applecross dialect, especially among older speakers from the south of the peninsula were pronounced as ending in -ee, for instance doras-beulaibh (front door) would be voiced as dor-us bee-uh-lee. This may be an example of an older form of a dative plural?<br /><br /><br /><br />The name is applied to a small bay in Toghsgaig (q.v.) where there are the remains of a small pier of the leeward side of the bay and a very short, shallow slope up to a green field where small boats could be pulled up out of the water in winter or during bad weather.
