Placename

Gaelic name: Rocky pool

Name in Original Source: Rocky pool

English meaning: Rocky pool

Placename feature: River pool

Notes: No Gaelic name has been recorded for this feature, a river pool upstream from Hartfield House. The name was only given in English by informants to Ian Fraser, Scottish Place Names Survey, May 1971. However, it should be noted that this feature may not exist today as it once did - the old Ordnance Survey maps show a small island in a bend of the river - with the pool name marked behind it - but this island is no longer visible today. As such, the co-ordinates listed for this feature must be treated as 'approximates'
