Placename

Gaelic name: Loch nan Glac

Name in Original Source: Loch nan Glac

English meaning: Loch of the hollows

Placename feature: Loch

Notes: This is a picturesque loch above Lower Toscaig, not far from na Sitheannan (q.v.), and on the old route to Coillie Ghillie. One night a Coillie Ghillie man was on his way home from having helped the Toscaig people with the potatoes, and was passing this loch when he heard the ducks calling out. He thought that noise was him being told to 'Fàg! Fàg!', and with that he cried ....and threw away the 'cromain' that he had with him and fled for home as quickly as possible. A 'croman' is a hoe-like implement for lifting potatoes. (Source - Rhoda Cameron 27/12/2000)
