Placename

Gaelic name: Leac nan Seòl

Name in Original Source: Leac nan Seòl

English meaning: Flagstone of the sails

Placename feature: Land feature

Notes: Whether this name is applied to these flat limestone slabs between Baile a' Mhuilinnand Shore Street because they look like sails when viewed from the sea, or because they provided a big enough flat space to work on and repair sails, is open to conjecture. The name does not appear on any official Ordnance Survey map, and was recorded by Applecross Historical Society.
