Placename

Gaelic name: Leacach

Name in Original Source: Leacach

English meaning: Plain hill face

Placename feature: Land feature

Notes: This name is only recorded in an Applecross Estate Brochure of Sale, July 1887, as being the name of one of the principal stalking beats: The second beat, Leacach (the plain face of a hill), commences about ten miles from the House and takes in three corries, namely, Corrie-na-pot (the corrie of the pot), Corrie-na-Feoil (the fleshy corrie), and Corrie Each (the horse corrie). These three corries run from the top of the north side of Ben-y-Bhein, and are deep, narrow glens richly clothed with grass, affording splendid pasture for deer.
