Placename

Gaelic name: Lianag na Camanaich

Name in Original Source: Lianag na Camanaich

English meaning: Little meadow of the Caman

Placename feature: Field

Notes: This is the small green area on the north bank of Allt a' Chamain just beside the cross-roads where the road goes west towards An Àird Dhubh, south towards Toghsgaig and north towards Cùil Dubh. This was a favoured camping spot for travelling folk, and was also where Duncan MacDonald (Dunnchadh Sheòrais from An Àird Dhubh) carried out what may have been the very first field recordings for the School of Scottish Studies in 1951. The name information and location was supplied by Duncan Murchison, 24th October 2012
