Name in Original Source: Loch Creagach (2)

English meaning: Sea-weed cast loch

Notes: On the 1905 edition of this map, the name is given as Loch a' Chracaich, even if it is called Loch Creagachon the 1880 edition.

Also called Loch Achrakin (MacKenzie's The north part of Sky Island and the adjacent main of Scotland, 1775)

W. J. Watson's notes: 207: Loch Cràiceach, or Loch a' Chràicich(O.S.M., Loch Creagach) - 'Cràiceach' or 'cròiceach' means (1) rising into foam; (2) full of cast seaweed (H.S.D.); and the latter meaning suits very well here. At the head of the loch is An Cràiceach, the place where the sea-weed collects.
