Placename

Gaelic name: Glac an t-Seasgaich

Name in Original Source: Glach a Geasgoch

English meaning: Hollow of the yeld cattle

Placename feature: Hollow

Notes: On the Griffin/Beaton map, this place is marked as Glach a Seasgoch (yeld cattle), but the real meaning is probably Glac an t-Seasgaich. Seasgis an adjective meaning 'barren', as in a sheep or cow. There is a place in Carloway district of the Isle of Lewis called Clach an t-seasgaich - the crag of the dry cattle. Seasgach is a collective noun. This place is on the moorland a little south-east of An Lòn Bàn (q.v.) and south of Allt na Mòine (q.v.)
