Notes: (2) An Goirtean Dubh was recorded by Ian Fraser of the Scottish Place Names Survey when he visited Applecross in May 1971, as being a field in Baile a' Mhuilinn( q.v.). He said this was the most northerly usage of the word goirtean as a place name element that he had recorded on mainland Scotland, although it is commonly used in Western Inverness-shire.
