Placename
Gaelic name: Allt Meurachaidh
Name in Original Source: Allt Meurachaidh
English meaning: Stream of tributaries [?]
Placename feature: Stream
Notes: This stream flows down the western hillside of Srath Maol Chaluim (q.v.) but the name is questionable. As it reaches the floor of the strath, this stream splits into a number of smaller streamlets.

The Ordnance Survey's name book of the 1870s states that this name means: Stream of the branches, and as the part of the Applecross peninsula where the feature is has probably been denuded of trees for many generations, it may be more probable that the name has the sense of branches of a stream or river, as opposed to trees
